Tell us a bit about yourself Michelle
Im 42 married with 3 kids & a cat & live in Carrum Downs.
Tell us what you do for fun?
I love going to see live bands especially 80’s tribute bands or any acts still touring. I love to travel & have long brunches with family & friends!
What triggered you to come along to your first Escaping Your Comfort Zone hike?
The reason is came to the first hike was that i wanted to start hiking again, increase my fitness level to reach my goals of going on some treks in the future. I was drawn to the idea of a plus size group as i have felt intimidated about going to a gym etc in the past but not anymore!
I’d love to know how the hikes changed how you feel about yourself.
I feel good that i am doing something positive for myself as I give all my time to my family & friends. My fitness has improved & hiking does wonderful things to the brain! Being outdoors in the fresh air & nature feels amazing too.
What would you say to someone who thinks they are too unfit, slow, nervous or anxious to come along?
I’d tell anyone who is hesitant to join that I felt nervous the first time I hiked with the group because I didn’t know anyone. But the girls are so friendly & we are pretty much all there for similar reasons so it was easy to fit in. I’m extremely impressed that we all wait for each other & encourage each other if we are feeling like we are holding the group back. It’s about the journey & enjoying each others company. I can already see that mine & other people’s fitness has improved & looking forward to seeing more girls join us!
Michelle!! I love the positivity you bring to every walk, and that you are so willing to give anything a crack. I especially like that you loved my gnarly, muddy trail at Lysterfield!!
